Casa da Annelies

In late 2018, I explored central Portugal as a potential country to realise my dream of starting an accessible holiday home and discovered the lagoon and the property. A year later, keys were handed over and I left my adopted and beloved Scotland with an old rickety van, 16 boxes and a dear friend who accompanied me during the long drive. Then followed 3 years of work: demolition, house renovation, learning new building skills, materials and language after which finally the Hobbit House and Guest House were completed!

Although this has been (and still is) a one-woman-show, the house is awarded with the input of many people such as the beautiful artwork of friends. Others donated their time and became my trusted additional pair of hands and brains or gave items which were carefully renovated and re-used.
